Ep 66 Faith That Moves Mountains

Have you ever wondered why some prayers seem to go unanswered? Why spiritual breakthroughs happen for some believers but not others? The answer might be simpler—and more challenging—than you think.

Drawing from Matthew 17, we explore the powerful moment when Jesus's disciples failed to cast out a demon from a suffering child. When they asked why they couldn't help, Jesus's response was straightforward: "Because of your unbelief." This episode unpacks Jesus's famous mustard seed analogy, revealing how even minuscule faith—when authentic—can accomplish seemingly impossible feats.

The distinction between casual belief and genuine faith stands at the core of our spiritual effectiveness. As we examine Hebrews 11, we discover that "faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Like a builder who envisions a completed structure when looking at raw materials, faith allows us to see God's promised outcomes before they materialize. This transformative perspective changes everything about how we pray, serve, and live.

We also tackle practical aspects of building faith, recognizing that "faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God." The more we immerse ourselves in Scripture—reading, studying, and listening—the stronger our faith muscles become. What begins as mustard seed-sized faith can grow into mountain-moving spiritual power when nourished properly. If you're struggling with unbelief or seeking to strengthen your spiritual walk, this episode offers biblical wisdom to help you cultivate a faith that truly pleases God and unlocks divine possibilities in your life. Ready to transform your faith journey? Listen now, and discover how to walk in mountain-moving belief.

Speaker 1:

Well, welcome to Faith Walk. I'm William Carroll, your host. I've kind of been on a roll in the last four or five episodes. You know I was just sitting here today and did them all at one time, just kind of going through the Word, just as the Lord led, and I hope it blessed you. You know how is your Faith Walk? We'll begin it today.

Speaker 1:

Well, listen, let's go back and we were in chapter 17 of the book of Matthew, the gospel of Matthew, and we were talking about how a man had come to the disciples and wanted his son healed, who had a devil and was throwing him in the fire, throwing him in the water, foaming at the mouth, and they couldn't cast him out. So they asked Jesus. When they came aside, they said why not? Why could we not? And Jesus said, and he had already said publicly to them O, faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, how long shall I suffer? You Bring him here to me. And he rebuked the devil and it from him and the child was cured. All right. So we're in chapter 17, matthew, verse 19 is where they came to him apart and they said why? Why could we not cast him out? And he said, because of your unbelief.

Speaker 1:

For I say, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you should say to the mountain mountain, remove and be cast into another place, and it shall be removed and cast in another place and nothing, nothing shall be impossible to you. How be it? He puts a condition don't own a casting out devils. He says you know, this kind, this kind goes out not unless you pray and fast. In other words, you be prayed up, you be fasted up, you be walking in the power of God and you know that gives you the power for the devil to cast him out. You know you say, well, I haven't ever seen any devils. Now, oh, there's lots of devils, you know they. Just they conform different nowadays because they don't want you to see them.

Speaker 1:

And if you're not walking in the power of the Holy Spirit, if the Holy Spirit doesn't give you discernment in those situations, you just think somebody's crazy, or you just think they're on drugs, or you just think they're up all these other things. You know, because the devil's good at disguising himself. Listen, the devil didn't go nowhere. He didn't go nowhere. He didn't go nowhere. His third of angels didn't go nowhere. They were in Jesus's time. They're in our time, but we need the discernment of the Holy Spirit to recognize them. You don't want to be going over and casting out the devil.

Speaker 1:

If somebody don't have a devil, you know there's also oppression of the devil. It doesn't, they're not possessed, but they're oppressed and they just, you know the devil is attacking their life, but anyway, so as we go on, he said if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you can say to the mountain be removed and cast into the sea, and nothing shall be impossible for you, and nothing shall be impossible for you. Nothing shall be impossible for you. Well, you know, it makes me think about the tree. He walked by the fig tree and there was no fruit on it and he cursed it. And when they passed back by the fruit tree, the fruit tree was dried up from the roots and he said if you believe and doubt not that whatever you say to the fruit tree, you'll say the same thing to the tree be cast and be removed into the sea, and it will be done, there will be nothing impossible for you.

Speaker 1:

Listen, he's talking to the believers here. He's talking to the believers and he's telling them. You know, look here, I was going to read this right here. It says in his name no, in Romans 10 it says so faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.

Speaker 1:

I wanted to talk about how do we build our faith. How do we build that mustard grain faith, rico? Stop that, rico, stop that. And how we build that faith is by hearing the Word of God, by reading the Word of God, by seeing the Word of God. You know, faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. So we need to build our faith by the Word of God, by getting in the Word of God, studying the Word of God, listening to people speak about the Word of God, and we began to build our faith. We began to build our faith because we began to believe that the things that God says he can do, he'll do. He said nothing will be impossible for us, nothing should be impossible for the church, nothing, nothing. If we walk by faith, if we believe what God says and we are his hands and his feet and his mouth and we go about doing God's business, nothing is impossible for us.

Speaker 1:

And in Hebrews 11 and 6, this is what it says. It says, but without faith it is impossible to please him. For he who comes to God must believe that he is and that he's a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. So without faith, it's impossible to please God. You know, one guy brought his, asked for his son to be healed, and Jesus said if you can only believe, your son will be healed. And the man said Lord, I believe, but help my unbelief. In other words, you can have a belief in something but not faith in something. You can believe that God will do something in a loose sense, but not have faith that he can do it. And, and you know, I'm going to tell you you need to go to Hebrews, chapter 11. And in Hebrews, chapter 11, that's called the faith chapter. Here I'm fixing to jump over there, right, quick, that's the faith chapter. Now listen, this is what it says about faith. And we're talking about faith because Jesus says you're faithfulest in perverse generation, all right, so we need to have faith to please him, right? Hebrews 11, chapter 1. Now, faith is is.

Speaker 1:

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, you know. So, listen, faith is the things that makes happen, things happen. Faith is the same. It's kind of like building a building. You've got a pile of wood up there. There's faith. Faith is in that wood that it's going to be a house or a building or whatever you're building. Faith is seeing that and knowing See. Faith to a Christian is seeing in the Word, reading the Word and knowing in your spirit that God can perform His Word. So faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. So it's something you don't see. You can't see a building when they dump that wood out there. You can't see a building. You know you may can. I'm not a builder, I can't see a building, but I understand that it's faith to a builder. He has faith that that's going to be a building. He has faith that he's going to put those boards together and it is going to be a building. He has faith that he's going to put those boards together and it is going to be a building. He has faith in that. You know, if you're not a builder then you don't know what it's going to turn out to be. But the word of God says now faith is a substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. The evidence is that's going to be a building right. But you don't see it yet.

Speaker 1:

And it goes on in Hebrews 11 too. It says For by it, the elders obtained a good testimony. They obtained a good testimony, the elders in the Old Testament. By faith, we understand that the whole world was framed by the Word of God. By faith, see, god spoke and said Let there be light. And light came upon the earth. You know, listen, god's whole thing. Even under the old covenant there was ways you could get healed for leprosy and things like that. But you had to go, do it the right way and go through the priest. But it was by faith. If you didn't believe, if you didn't have faith that it would work, then going and offering those sacrifices and having the priest offer them, did you no good. See, the whole Word of God, from Genesis to Revelation, is full.

Speaker 1:

Faith is faith.

Speaker 1:

It's believing that God is who he says he is. God can do what he says he'll do and God will use us as he says he'll use us. Listen, if you don't know Jesus Christ, I want you to call upon him right now, today. Say Lord, do you know who I am? Do you know what I am? Do you know where I am. Lord, I need to know today If you know who, what and where I am. And, lord, I need you to change my life Because I have made an absolute mess out of it. In Jesus' name, you pray that prayer and I'm going to tell you what God's going to put you on a path of walking a faith walk that way.

Speaker 1:

You need to learn, you need to grow. How do you learn and how do you grow? Well, we already read it a minute ago that faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God. So we can hear with our eyes. When we read the word, we're actually hearing. So faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. So we need to get in there. We need to build our little mustard seed faith up. We need to build our little mustard green mustard seed faith up. We need to build it up and as we walk with him, it'll build. Listen, I love, I love you. Like it, share it, subscribe. You know all the things you can do and if it blesses you, then send it to somebody and send me an email. Let me know what you think. Until next time, god bless you.
