Ep 82 Are Your Health Problems Actually Spiritual Warfare?
Have you ever felt trapped in circumstances that squeeze you like a pressure cooker with no relief valve? That's exactly how spiritual oppression works in the lives of believers.
While Christians filled with the Holy Spirit cannot be possessed by demons, we remain vulnerable to oppression – those relentless attacks that manifest as physical ailments, financial troubles, or relationship difficulties. The devil strategically attempts to cut off our spiritual relief valve by whispering lies: "God doesn't care about you" or "He's the one who put this sickness on you." These deceptions keep many believers suffering unnecessarily.
The biblical account of the woman bent over for eighteen years provides powerful insight into spiritual oppression. Jesus didn't just see her physical condition; he recognized the spiritual bondage Satan had placed on her. When he declared, "Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity," Jesus wasn't merely addressing symptoms – he was breaking a spiritual attack. This revelation should transform how we approach chronic illnesses, especially those mysterious autoimmune conditions that seem to target strong believers.
Modern medicine serves an important purpose, but what if some conditions have spiritual roots that medical science can't touch? The church must reclaim its spiritual discernment to recognize when health challenges might be spiritual warfare in disguise. Through prayer, faith, and spiritual authority, believers can experience healing that addresses both physical symptoms and their spiritual causes.
Are your health problems actually spiritual attacks? Ask God to reveal any spiritual components to your suffering and stand firm in the truth that Jesus Christ remains our ultimate relief valve – "the same yesterday, today, and forever" (Hebrews 13:8).
Well, good morning, welcome to Faith Walk. I'm William, your host, and listen. We've been talking. Last podcast or two on here and on TikTok.
Speaker 1:I got to talking about oppression and how we can be oppressed of the devil, and I wanted to continue in that thought and show you exactly what I'm talking about. But first things first, let's go to the Lord in prayer. Get you a cup of coffee, sit down, get your Bible. We're gonna look into the word and see what the word says. Father, open my eyes to see as you see. Open my ears to hear as you hear. Open my heart to feel what you feel. And, lord, let my mouth speak what you would speak. Let my hands and my feet, lord, be your hands and feet to be used every day, father, that I might touch someone's life In Jesus' name. Amen, all right. So, man, I was ready. This morning I already wanted to jump in, but let's go. We're going to get out of Matthew, right, this second.
Speaker 1:I'll probably be back over there, but this has just been trying on my heart because of all my friends that are suffering and going through the things that I had been going through in my body, with the autoimmune that they call it, and all the pain and the um, the joints aching and hurting and and just rashes and all kinds of things. And I talked about oppression last time, that that jesus healed those that were oppressed of the devil. And uh, that's what he did. He went around healing all those that were oppressed. Now I'm not talking about possession. See, if you're born again Christian, if you're filled with the Spirit of God, you cannot be possessed. But you can be oppressed. You can be put into a pressure cooker and you can just be squeezed and squeezed. Because of illness, because of financial, financial problems, just family problems, any kind of thing can put you in a pressure cooker. And you're just sitting there in a pressure cooker.
Speaker 1:And I said here a while back, I said if you're in a pressure cooker, jesus is the relief valve, jesus is the relief valve. Have you ever seen a pressure cooker? You lock that lid down and you've got a little old gauge on top and a pressure valve and when it starts venting, you know it's pressurized up. You look at it, you know if something stopped up, if that vent stopped up, it'll blow that lid off and it'll just build up so much pressure it blows that lid off.
Speaker 1:Well see, that's what the devil wants to do to you. He wants to put you in a pressure cooker that he can control and he wants to block off the relief valve. He wants to tell you that God doesn't care about you, that God doesn't love you and that that you know you're on your own. He won't even tell you that god put this sickness, god put this pain, god put whatever problem you're going through on you and he'll say don't, don't. You see, god doesn't love you.
Speaker 1:And some people fall for that false, um, that false word that the devil gives them. But listen, we have a way to get out of that pressure cooker. For one thing, we have a vent. It's jesus christ. When we call upon him to be our lord and savior, we ask him into our heart, we believe with our heart that he is the son of god, we confess him with our mouth, and the word says in roman 10 10, that we shall be saved. We shall be saved now she's. That should change your whole life. It should change the direction you're going in and turn you around and go in the other direction and, um, I'll tell you what it you. It should give you a desire to know of him, to learn of him. Now, it doesn't always do that, you know. Sometimes. You know, ten lepers were healed and went off and next thing, you know, only one came back and fell at the feet of Jesus and worshiped him because he was healed. The rest of them didn't. So that's kind of the way it is in the world. Sometimes we want something from God and we ask for God and God does it, and then we're just unrepentant, we just go on like maybe it was just a coincidence.
Speaker 1:Well, listen, I need to get started, because in Luke 13.10, we're talking about a woman with a disabling spirit. And he was teaching one of the synagogues on the sabbath. And behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity 13, 18 years and was bowed together and could not lift up herself. And when jesus saw her, he called her to him and said unto her woman, thou art loosed from your infirmity and the rulers. And he laid his hands upon her and immediately she was made straight and glorified god.
Speaker 1:And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation because that jesus has healed on the sabbath day and said unto the people there are six days in which men ought to work in them. Therefore, come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day. And the lord answered him and said you hypocrite, do you not each one of you, on the sabbath, loose his ox or his donkey from the stall and lead them away to watering? And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound lo these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath day? And when he had said these things, all the adversaries were ashamed and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him. You see, the religious people did not want him healing on sabbath, why it was a law to do no work on the sabbath. Yet they would go and they would take their cows and walk them to water and they would work on the sabbath. But they did what? Got mad because jesus healed this woman on a sabbath day and said you know she can come back. Uh, she can come back any other day and be healed. All she has to do is come back you other day and be healed. All she has to do is come back, you know, and come to the priest and go through the motions and she can be healed.
Speaker 1:But see, they had lost their power. The church has lost their power and I know I talk about this a lot. The church has lost its power. We need to gain back the power of God again. We need to just start walking in the power of God. It's not that we've let it slip because of the world and because of teaching of the world and hearing. You know, god doesn't do this today. Well, god does more today. He does as much today as he did back then. And I'm going to tell you what God loves you, god wants to reach out to you, god wants to touch you.
Speaker 1:This spirit of infirmity was of Satan. Did you see that? It was of Satan? It was attack. It was a spiritual attack on this woman. For 18 years. She couldn't, she was bent over and couldn't raise up. And Jesus said loose her and let her go free. And the lady rose up.
Speaker 1:And I want to tell you something we have to get back to being the hands and feet of God. We have to get back to believing what God says, walking in what he says and doing what he says. We've got to be bold. He's waiting for people to be bold. You know, he said that when the Holy Spirit came upon us, we would receive power, and I talked about that before Dunamis. That's where we get our word dynamite Power from God to be witnesses, witness of what? Witness to the fact that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. Hebrews, chapter 13, verse 8. But this lady had an infirmity 18 years. Yesterday, today and forever. Hebrews, chapter 13, verse 8. But this lady had an infirmity 18 years. 18 years, and see, I'm sure she had been to the doctors at that time and nobody could do nothing, but nobody recognized.
Speaker 1:We need to learn. We need to learn to walk in the spiritual gifts and we need to learn to discern the spirit so that we can tell if somebody is being attacked by a spiritual attack or by just a physical attack. And you know, sometimes the doctors can help us with medicine on the physical side, but the spiritual side has to be dealt with or you'll still be in that same condition. You know all these autoimmune, immune deficiency diseases of all these friends of mine. You know, I believe that the Lord, through discernment, showed me it was a spiritual attack on Christian men, strong Christian men, these, that this thing just hits out of the blue, hits out of nowhere, man, and it takes you down, you know.
Speaker 1:But the men that have recovered are the men that were strong in faith, that believed in God, that he believed he would answer their prayer and answer the church's prayer. Listen, I'm running out of time so I got to get off of here, but if you have a spirit of infirmity, ask God to show you if it's a spiritual disease, a spiritual sickness that is affecting your body. You can be relieved from that and I'm going to pray for you. I'm going to pray God relieves you right now. If you say, hey, that's me, that's me, all right, father, in the name of Jesus, right now we ask you, we bind that spirit, we command it to loose them and lord, loose your holy spirit and let your healing, your life-giving blood flow through your people and heal them in jesus's name, amen.
